Welcome to meBiblio
===================

    

meBiblio is a bibliography tool: it organizes your reference library, allows easy search in your references and permits immediate retrieval and examination of digitally stored literature items. It connects to online catalogs as `PUBMED <http://www.pubmed.org>`_ to retrieve data. 

Two versions of meBiblio exist:

*    **meBiblio 1.0** recentely rewritten from *scratch* , it is implemented purely in `python <http://python.org>`_, using `SQLite <http://www.sqlite.org>`_ as database engine and `Qt/PyQt4 <http://www.riverbankcomputing.co.uk/software/pyqt/download>`_ as GUI environment. It is cross platform and depends uniquely on python and Qt.
*    `meBiblio 0.4.x <http://mebiblio.sourceforge.net/oldsite>`_ (**discontinued**) was written in php with a database in mySQL. Although cross platform it depended on a web server, a php engine and the mySQL server database. This software is anyhow generally available on \*nix OSs.
